Jeanne McWilliams Blasberg — Travel Writer

Our family’s move to Zurich, Switzerland in 2009 put us in a marvelous central location from which to embark on excursions around Europe. Since our stay was supposed to be short, the clock started ticking as soon as we landed and I began planning as much travel as we could pack in.

Living abroad with an explorer’s mindset changed my approach to many things. Removed from any sense of routine, I was more present and alert than ever. I was curious and open to meeting new people, speaking foreign languages and taking impromptu exits off main roads. I was practically addicted to planning the next trip.

Upon our return to Boston in 2012, I vowed to maintain that curious spirit. I’ve travelled to Africa, Asia, and South America since my expat life came to an end, but I’ve also travelled around New England and the US with an eye toward beautiful, authentic experiences.

My desire to be a travel writer stems from my love of both. It’s not just writing about the places that interest me, it’s the transformation travel brings. I want to share my experiences and connect with the curious spirit in others.

Patagonia: Stay Open to the Possibilities

On a recent vacation to Patagonia, I took a day off from hiking with the friends I'd traveled with to go horseback riding. Who could resist the beauty of the animals, the gaucho culture, or the wide open, expansive landscape?  I'm not an experienced rider, but talked my way into…By Jeanne|
